Plaintiff\u2019s counsel introduced the testimony of three individuals through excerpts of their video depositions. \u00a0To begin, excerpts from Christopher Hunt\u2019s deposition were played for the jury. \u00a0Mr. Hunt, a young DePuy engineer, testified that rim loading causes massive wear. \u00a0The wear can be seen on the edge of the acetabular cup or on the femoral head. \u00a0Mr. Hunt also testified that to achieve an implant angle of 45 degrees, a surgeon would have to put the implant in at less than 45 degrees because of the shape of the DePuy ASR cup. \u00a0He explained that an increased angle increases rim loading.<\/p>\n
Plaintiff\u2019s counsel then introduced the testimony of Dr. Peter Wendt. \u00a0Dr. Wendt was Mr. Kransky\u2019s implanting surgeon. \u00a0He testified that he stopped using the ASR eight months before it was recalled because his DePuy sales representative told him that there were problems with the device.\u00a0 DePuy recalled the ASR hip in August 2010.<\/p>\n
Excerpts from the deposition of Dr. Jeffrey Hansen, Mr. Kransky\u2019s revision surgeon, were also played for the jury.<\/p>\n
