This case involved a young man.

Dean's client was a paraplegic due to a motorcycle accident that had occurred several years before.

After becoming a paraplegic, the client had leased an alternating pressure mattress from a pharmacy company. But after a few years, that mattress started to leak. The client called the company and asked them to fix it.

The young man was without an alternating pressure mattress for about a month – before the pharmacy company finally returned it to him. The company did not provide a loaner mattress in the interim. By that time, the young man was already in the hospital – because 3 weeks into this ordeal, he discovered a bed sore that had become infected. He ended up needing multiple surgeries and is going to have a lifetime problem with infections as a result of the fact that the pharmacy company did not provide a loaner mattress.

Dean filed a lawsuit and after several years of litigating, he was able to get his client a $1.9 Million Settlement.

The next step was for Dean to secure that money by using a structured settlement so that his client could keep his Social Security Disability, money that Social Security was paying his mother to care for him, his Medicare, and Medi-Cal that paid for his medical bills going forward.
